SINCE 2004

Madtech started in 2004 as MAD Technologies, building Flash sites and custom systems for Sarawak’s tourism trade — resorts on the coast, hotels in town, lodges up in the highlands. The web was younger then. So were we. We’ve changed our name twice since and incorporated as Madtech Systems Company in 2019, but the work has kept the same shape: build the thing properly, then stay and keep it running. Our longest-standing client first came to us around 2010, and has stayed through three different businesses since.

Half of what we do is software. The other half is business. So the first questions about your project are plain ones: what’s it for, who’s it for, and what do you want people to actually do? Answer those three and most of the hard decisions make themselves.

And we’ll usually argue you out of something. Ask for an app and we’ll often talk you back to a website — nobody goes hunting in an app store for a business they haven’t heard of yet. Ask for ten slides across the homepage and we’ll tell you nobody reads past the fifth. We’d rather build the five things you’ll use than the fifteen you won’t, because every extra one is something to maintain for years, long after anyone remembers why it’s there. We’ve turned work away over this. We’d do it again.
